Attorney Sargent has represented thousands of individuals accused of crimes over the last 20 years and has successfully had hundreds of those cases dismissed upon motions to suppress or dismiss. Attorney Sargent has taken over 100 cases to Trial in the Courts from crimes as minor as driving without a license to as complex as murder.
Attorney Sargent is CPCS certified for District, Juvenile, Superior Court, Youthful Offender and Murder cases. As a Supervisor for all CPCS Juvenile Bar Advocates in Bristol County, Attorney Sargent works closely with Judges and Court Staff to Coordinate effective operation and defense of Juvenile Defendants.
Attorney Sargent was the only private defense attorney selected to serve on the CPCS Juvenile Court COVID-19 Advisory Board.

Kristina Besse, Paralegal & Office Manager
Kristina is an experienced Paralegal who studied Sociology and Crime and Justice at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and earned dual degree’s in Criminal Justice and Paralegal Studies from Fisher College.
Before joining our team, Kristina worked in other local law offices practicing Family Law, Personal Injury Law, Social Security Law and Workers Compensation Law.
She has been with our office since 2016 specializing in Personal Injury, Auto Accident cases and Litigation.
She also prides herself in the Southcoast community as she is a native to the New Bedford area.
Kristina is very knowledgeable in her ability to understand the needs of our clients. She never hesitates to help in anyway possible
Janey Carvalho, Paralegal
Janey earned a degree in Legal Studies and a Paralegal Certificate from Bristol Community College.
Janey specializes in criminal defense litigation and has experience in all types of criminal defense litigation ranging from drug possession misdemeanors, to motor vehicle homicides, to murder cases.
Janey has experience drafting complex motions to suppress evidence, analyzing case documents, analyzing cellular data, analyzing video forensics, and analyzing crime scene photographs.
To provide the best criminal defense for our clients, Janey assists Attorney Sargent in processing crime scenes and evidence, formulating defense strategies and preparing for hearings and trials.
Janey prides herself in her attention to detail and ability to take on any challenge with a smile.
Jane Parson, Financial Manager
Jane is an integral part of the Law Office as well as Sargent Real Estate. Jane has many years of experience in business and bookkeeping. She owned a Seafood wholesale company with her husband, right here in New Bedford for over 30 years. She is well known for her understanding of finance and keeping a the business’s impeccable. Jane is always here to help our clients and vendors. She brings warmth to the financial world.
Raegan Rose, Legal Assistant
Raegan joined our team in 2024 and has quickly become a friendly and welcoming part of the law office. She has over 30 years of customer service experience which has flowed seamlessly into her new role here as the Legal Assistant in the Personal Injury Department. Raegan is knowledgeable and prepared to help anyone who has been injured in an auto accident . She is eager to help where ever she may be needed!
